BootScore WooCommerce Theme: Review + Install Guide

If you run a self-hosted store on WordPress + WooCommerce and want a clean, developer-friendly foundation instead of a bloated page-builder theme, BootScore is worth a look. It’s a free, open-source WordPress starter theme that combines Bootstrap 5 with the Underscores boilerplate and ships with full WooCommerce support — including an AJAX off-canvas cart.

This guide covers what BootScore is, who it’s for, its real strengths and limits, and exactly how to install and customize it. We also host a clean, ready-to-upload ZIP below so you don’t have to repackage the GitHub archive yourself.

What Is BootScore?

BootScore is a community-built WordPress theme released under the MIT license. It merges Bootstrap’s utility classes with Underscores’ minimal theme skeleton, then layers on WooCommerce-ready templates. Key points:

How to Install (ZIP Upload)

The fastest path — no Composer required:

  1. Download the pre-packaged ZIP from the link below. (It contains the full theme — style.css, index.php, functions.php, woocommerce/, assets/, and the rest — exactly what WordPress expects.)
  2. In your WordPress admin, go to Appearance > Themes.
  3. Click Add New > Upload Theme, choose the ZIP, and click Install Now.
  4. Click Activate to use BootScore, then install WooCommerce to enable the store templates.

Tip: For upgrade-safe changes, also install the BootScore Child theme and make your edits there.

How to Customize

  1. Edit *.scss in the theme (or child theme) — save and the built-in scssphp compiler recompiles automatically.
  2. Adjust layout and markup in the .php template files and template-parts/.
  3. Enqueue your own JS in functions.php or edit the bundled scripts.
  4. Style WooCommerce via the provided woocommerce/ templates and Bootstrap classes.

Because Bootstrap is bundled, you rarely need a build pipeline — just write SCSS and Bootstrap HTML.
